Today I officially became a great grandfather!
That is too cool. My first great grandchild is a bouncing baby girl of 7lb 3 oz.

It’s Olympics time in Vancover BC Canada, and watching winners is always so motivating, don’t you think? Especially when it’s the person or team your rooting for.
These athletes put their life into training, and pushing the limits of their endurance. They truly play hard.
How hard do you play? Do you give it your all … and then give some more?
I remember going through basic training as a young man, and at one point I was so tired I just stopped, I was ready to quit. It was at that point I remembered the words of our Corporal instructor echoing back to me. When you feel so tired you’re about to drop, when you feel like you just cant’ go another step, just go a little bit further.
What I have discovered is, it’s at that point you break free. It’s at that point all real achievement begins. It’s at that point your pride swells and your esteem burst with vigor. These will be the points to use in future times to keep you pushing on to even higher achievement. And these will be your gold medal memories of accomplishment.
The Corporal’s words still echo in my mind whenever I feel like quiting, and then I – just go a little bit further.
Give it a try, you may surprise youself with a gold medal achievement of your own.
It may not be what you think…
Is it your career, relationship or something thing else in your life that isn’t satisfying you?
Does life change or do you? Well…it just might be that you are going through your natural process of meeting or not meeting your values.
Have you been there?
Whether you are standing in front of a group or have just been singled out … you’re on the spot.
You’ve got to say something but the words aren’t coming – oh they’re in there – bouncing off the inside walls of you head, but they are NOT coming out.
Soren Kierkegaard said, “Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards”.
Can Soren be wrong? Is it possible to live life backwards and understand it forward?
Well, here’s a way I’ve found to do it – when it’s important.
Goal Setting!
Now, don’t go getting your knickers in a twist. It’s not the usual way you hate setting goals, this way is more ecological, and that’s what makes is seem like you are living life backwards first. So listen up.
I mean, lets face it, we all set goals, knowingly or not. You can’t pick up milk at the local store unless you first have a thought that you need or want milk, an outcome of where you can get the milk, and a plan in process to get it.
EXAMPLE: Hey, who drank the last of the milk? Jeez, I need milk for my Froot Loops. Let me think … the corner store should be open, I’ll jump in the car, grab the milk and be back before the game starts. Whoa, I better put on a pair of pants first.
So, I pre-lived it forward by visualizing the whole process, understood by going foreward that I would need to change something – put on a pair of pants – and then, after making the adjustments going backward to start my goal of getting the milk before the game.
Goal set and accomplished. Too easy.
Of course for things more important than having your Froot Loops before a game you may want to do it with more detail and accuracy.
But it will depend on how important your life decisions are to you, or how much you have to lose and how much you have to gain.

How is you life today?
We are a few days away from September, that means summer is over and school for some, work for others, starts or resumes.
If you run your own business it may or may not be any different, depending on how you’re doing.
Ronda and I like September best because it’s such a pleasant month, both weather wise and visually.
Have you ever wondered how you attach feelings to certain months, weeks or days? I mean, a day is a day before we put it in a box like a calendar.
But there are the obvious special days that have meaning. And if they turn out in any other way than the meaning we have put on them, it may even “ruin” the day.
Think for example of your birthday. It was just another day until you were born and stuck an expectation on it. It now has to live up to a certain standard, doesn’t it? What would it be like if no one remembers it, or sends you a card, or wishes you a happy birthday?
Why, then it would become a terrible day carrying a huge meaning. Perhaps even depressing you. All because of an expectation you attached to the day.
Now think of how many other areas you attach expectations other than on days. What expectation have you set up for your spouse, children, parents, siblings, friends and co-workers.
Could you be happier and enjoy life more if you allowed yourself to expect less. Imagine how you would feel different if, rather than expecting things to be a certain way, you just noticed how they were.
Now I am not saying you should expect less of life and what you can have to make your life wonderful. But I do think we get tied up in expecting things a certain way, and when they don’t turn out, we become less functional because of that expectation.
So expect the most of life, and when things don’t turn out as expected, notice what you notice and ask yourself, what can I do to make this better?
I don’t watch much TV but I had it on tonight to watch The Mentalist. I really like the show but the writers really messed up and followed the age old pattern of showing hypnotism as some all powerful witch doctor super effective mind control device.
It ain’t so. Sorry to spoil the decades of Hollywood dream land story telling for you, but … it ain’t so. No matter how powerful hypnotism is, or who is using it – You Can NOT Make Someone Do Something They Don’t Want To Do. PERIOD!
If you could, why waste time, just take over the world. Go down to the bank with your biggest bag and tell the teller to fill it up.
Or perhaps you’re the humanitarian type, head for the nearest prison and hypnotize all the inmates to be good citizens.
But hey, it’s just Hollywood entertainment … right? No harm done, simply entertainment, no one really falls for that stuff … do they?
Unfortunately … yes they do. It’s a basic human nature to want to believe that all the power is in a source outside of you. That something or someone can make you do some function that you could not normally do.
NLP and hypnosis is a process used to get unstuck. The same or similar process that you used – inadvertently – somewhere in your life as you were getting through it. These things happen at the subconscious level so you normally have no idea how or when it happened.
Why am I telling you this from the TV point of view? Because all the power is really in you – to do what ever you want to do. But that’s the key, that you want to do it.
You see, even you, can’t make you, do what you don’t want to do.
You have been charged and found guilty of a hideous crime – Failing To Learn!
What will be your punishment – loss of health – wealth – happiness?
Well, you may never know really. Why? Because if you don’t recognize the fact that you are failing to learn, how would you recognize the punishment or outcome from that crime … er, I mean event.
But it’s not your fault … it’s your brains fault. You see, your brain is lazy. Or put in another way, your brain has learned to be efficient – too efficient at times.
Let me explain.
With the amount of information coming into your brain at any one time, some scientist say in excess of 2.4 million pieces of information at any given time, your brain has learned how to deal with all this information in the most efficient manor. And it’s brilliant really.
When a piece of information comes in through your senses, your brain codes it, lockes it in as known and now anytime in the future will not have to analyse this piece again because it’s coded as “known” – saving time to deal with all the other millions of pieces of information bombarding your system.
How efficient is that!
Awww … but what if the information is not completely correct, you might be asking? (If you weren’t perhaps that’s another sign.)
Alas, that is how we catch the felon.
Pick a time … any timmmme … (in my best Sylvester the cat voice)
When you might have told someone how they could do something differently or better and got a negative response where the person says, “I know that”, or something similar. A response which seems to totally disregard your helpful suggestion.
Or worse, they argue that their way is the right way or the best way – even against all odds or common sense!
There before your very eyes lies an efficient brain. (Did Bob mean lies as in lying down or as in telling a lie? – Aren’t ambiguities fun?)
The very function that the brain uses in allowing you to learn more – also prevents you from learning too much.
So as an trainer of NLP – neuro linguistic programming, it’s my job to help you learn more and more efficiently and also to inform you … so you don’t feel bad when people don’t take your advice;^)

There’s that problem with focusing on the wrong thing again. But isn’t it great when you’re focused on the right things? The things and people that make you happy, feel good and want to do more of it?
You bet it is. So what keeps you doing the the things that are not making you happy. You guessed it, it’s your stinkin thinkin. But the good news is, it’s not your fault and there is a way to STOP IT!
A part of me wants to …
Whenever I hear it, and I hear it often, it’s a sure sign of an internal conflict. That is, being torn between two choices and not being able to easily make a decision. If a decision can be made at all.
So what does it mean to you?
Well, perhaps nothing, but it you are having difficulty making decisions, especially where your career is concerned it can be a major setback for you. But don’t despair, there is a great technique we teach in the NLP Practitioner Certification Training called the Visual Squash.
No, it has nothing to do with vegetables or gourds. But it can make you a lot healthier in your mind.
You see, when you know for sure where you’re going, when you know what your true destiny is, what can be better than that?
