Creating The Life You Want

The first step to creating the life you want is to determine it with no limitations. What would you do or have if there were no limitations on what you can achieve?

Secondly, take the time to dream what it is you really want. You know what matters to you more than anything else. Define your dream to be more specific with the life you want.

As you let your mind focus on the life you want, become fully associated to having it. As if you already have it. See what you would see, hear what you would hear and feel what you would feel. Then (more…)

How Is Tanning Connected to Low Self-Esteem?

Posted Sunday, April 17th, 2011 by Ronda Degaust

To understand tanning you have to understand what happens to the body as it is exposed to sunlight. Everyone needs sunlight in order get their beneficial vitamin D to be healthy and live a long life. But going out into the sun for extended periods of time without protection is just as dangerous as lighting up a cigarette.

Suntan means browning the skin by exposing the body to ultraviolet radiation of the sun. This color change of the skin is due to the release of the pigment called melanin into the skin’s cells. Melanin is produced by melanocytes and it protects the body from absorbing excess solar radiation.

Too much tanning can cause… (more…)

When The Voices in Your Head Haunt You

Posted Sunday, April 17th, 2011 by Ronda Degaust

Some people claim to hear voices inside their heads. Many others convey that such individuals are crazy, as it isn’t considered normal. However, it can happen more often than you realize, and in many different ways.

George Miller, well known physiologist, stated back in 1956 that hearing voices in your head is normal. Reading this is probably a relief to know, but what can you do when those voices hunt you?

Since you now know that hearing voices are normal, what is the difference between the two types of voices you hear in your head?

Your Voice

The voice you hear most often is your own voice. It’s called self-talk. Self-talk is a discussion you have with yourself, often inside your head without the actual words coming out of your mouth. As long as the self-talk is positive, this self-talk isn’t a problem.

When the voice turns nasty and is always pointing out everything you did wrong or will go wrong…it can be very hard to feel good about your daily activities. This type of self-talk drains your energy and … (more…)

Which Emotions Amplify Your Back Pain?

Posted Sunday, April 17th, 2011 by Ronda Degaust

The back is made up of many muscles, but when we speak of back pain, we usually speak about the spine. The spinal column is a stacking of 33 vertebrae, distributed as follows: cervical, dorsal, lumbar and sacral. To simplify this I’m going to refer to these areas as lower, middle and upper back. What you are about to read is not to replace medical treatment. It is to open your mind to the possible emotional connection that may be causing or amplifying your back pain. Note it is important to always have any back pain checked by a medical doctor or a chiropractor.

Emotionally speaking, the back represents our support system. Problems with the back usually mean… (more…)

Living In The Space I Call Me

Posted Sunday, April 17th, 2011 by Ronda Degaust

With so many programs on television to redesign your home to make you feel good, what about the space you are living in every where you go? The space in which you live your whole life no matter where you move, this space is called you.

Feng Shui Your Space

You may of heard of the ancient application of feng shui (pronounced fung shway), it is believed that you can achieve perfect harmony in your surroundings, and then extend this harmony into your life. It is based on the concept of “chi”, or life energy, and its goal is to promote a healthy flow of this energy in any space you are in. In the most simply terms, if the space you are in feels good, you feel good.

Have you ever walked into a room and felt totally relaxed in minutes? There was something about the room that was inviting and you felt totally at home. Often the feng shui principals have been applied whether at a conscious level or unconscious level. You don’t have to be a feng shui expect to know whether your space feels good to you or not.

One of the fastest ways to… (more…)

Train Your Brain To Sleep

When working with people, with any issue, I always start with the question what is going on in your life that is preventing you from….in this case a good night’s sleep? Each individual is unique and there is no set in stone magical formula to cure the problem of insomnia. For some people it is lifestyle issues and some psychological and/or medical in nature. Regardless of the reason, continuous sleepless nights are a clear sign that something in your life needs to change. It is important to first check out any medical reasons that could be causing your problem of sleepless nights.

Treat The Cause Not The Symptom

When the problem is not medical, my approach is to treat ‘the cause’ rather than ‘the symptom’. For example if you are worried about something, obsessing about someone who hurt you or replaying your day over and over again in your mind, these behaviors keep you awake and would be considered ‘the cause’. Taking a sleeping pill would be treating ‘the symptom’ although sometimes necessary to give you relief in the short term. If you are interested in a long term solution,… (more…)

5 Commonly Used Phrases That Are A Sign You’re In Victim Mode?

Posted Sunday, April 17th, 2011 by Ronda Degaust

The words we use are indicators of how we form our reality of what is happening around us. These words or phrases also indicate whether your are in victim mode or you are taking responsibility for your own feelings and behaviors.

1 – S/he Makes Me Feel

If you use s/he makes me feel, this is a very common phrase and is one of the indicators you are in victim mode.

As much as we like to believe that another person has the ability to make us feel bad, it is not the case. In reality, something some says or does has no power of how you feel unless you choose to feel a certain way. Don’t get me wrong, I know things happen and you automatically have a feeling and it seems like you have no control over it and therefore s/he made you feel that way comes out of your mouth.

When you are taking responsibility for your own feelings, you would say something like… (more…)
