NLP and A Slimmer Waistline

Q: Dear Ronda,

“As I age I find it harder and harder to stop eating desserts and my waist line keeps expanding. I heard that NLP can help me reduce or eliminate my cravings, is this true?” – Hopeful Maggie

A: Dear Hopeful Maggie,

Yes NLP is about how we program our mind with our language. Over the years we program ourselves to crave certain foods. Since our mind has its own filing system for memories, these memories are often coded in images or pictures. Your pictures of certain foods are coded in a way that makes you crave the desserts over a vegetable for example. There is a simple process in NLP where this coding can be reprogrammed to make the desserts undesirable and reduce or even eliminate the cravings completely. It’s like having a built in will power system to say yes or no to what you want to eat. Although powerful, this process alone isn’t enough if a person is an emotional eater. Clearly up the emotions and doing the will power process could certainly have you on your way to a slimmer waistline.
