I originally offered you a chance for happiness just by taking 5 easy steps, so if you’re still reading this then I’ll assume you’re interested, so let’s move on to The 5 Steps To Happiness.
Introducing – Gratitude!
The experts tell us that a state, any state, can only last about 90 seconds so you need to have an automatic boosting system in place to recharge it like you would you cell phone, only you’re going to plug into your Life’s Potential rather than a wall plug.
So, the first thing I want you to do is get a notebook of some sort or use a computer or any other device you can type or write on. I still use notebooks and a pen.
Step 1 – Gratitude
The first step of the 5 Steps To Happiness is in Gratitude. Each day for the next 21 days I want you to write out three things you are grateful for. Do it every day without fail.
I’ve always avoided doing the gratitude thing in the past, too Oprah-fied for me, but I want to become happier so I’ll eventually try things even if at first I dig my heels in against it. Gratitude has been one of those things for me.
What about you, are you willing to do what it takes to be happier? If you are, show your gratitude by writing down 3 things you’re grateful for every day for the next 21 days.
The added benefit to this is it starts to train your brain to scan the world for the positive rather than the negative. That’s the first thing to be grateful for on your gratitude list.
Step 2 – Journaling
Journaling sounds hard to me, but it isn’t in this case because we make it easy. All you have to do is write down one positive thing you did today. It’s like recording a thought, just a brief moment in time.
When you record a prior event in which you had a positive experience you get to relive that positive experience, how cool is that?
Oh, and it only counts once on your gratitude list even if you get to live it twice.
