How To Be Optimistic In The Face Of Adversity
Stranded on Mars and left for dead.
Have you seen the movie “The Martian” yet?
It’s the perfect “How To Be Optimistic In The Face Of Adversity” movie.
And, it’s also a story that a few years ago would have been pure science fiction and thought impossible. But now it’s is almost possible.
There are many reasons to watch this movie even if you’re not optimistic in the face of adversity type, such as you love Matt Damon’s acting.
Or it could be that you love space movies, you want to see what Mars may look like, or you are a total Martian buff. And that’s only touching on a few.
But it doesn’t matter what your reason is, it’s a great movie and will have you on the edge of your seat many times. It’s also strong enough to pull a tear loose on you unemotional types (although it didn’t on me).
I went with my friend Fred to see this as Ronda and I have different taste in movies. And the fact that I tend to pick the movie apart – While Watching It – drives her crazy.
But I’m not the only one as I see there has been quite a lot of online activity discussing the accuracy of the movie.
Although Fred had preempted this by telling me that most of the movie has passed the accuracy test.
And it’s not that I don’t believe in space travel or getting to Mars, I think it’s an inevitable outcome of our over-active minds. In other words, I absolutely believe it will happen.
If you were or are a Star Trek fan then you are aware of the “How William Shatner Changed the World” movie.
You can take that as proof that merely thinking of something brings it into existence. This is a (light) part of Quantum Physics which we cover in our NLP Master Practitioner Certification Training and Coaching Program Online.
Time, Space, Matter and Energy all play a huge part in our lives whether we care to pay attention to it or not.
And we have some “Blow Your Mind” exercises in the training that are sure to please, as well as setting you at the top of the ladder in Coaching Skills.
So, does that make this an NLP movie? Well, I think any movie can be an NLP movie with the right thought process behind it, don’t you?
I mean, NLP is not a thing as much as it is a process. Or more accurately, a large number of processes, all of which are intended to improve your life.
So, if you can learn something that is helpful from a movie, something that can improve your life in some way, then surely it can be called an NLP movie if you want.
My recommendation is to watch the movie for enjoyment. Because it’s ultimately what it was created for. And try not to pick it apart like I do, sorry Ronda, because it’s just a movie. It’s entertainment, even I know that.
But if you do happen to watch The Martian, and you wake up the next day with many thoughts of interesting things, making strange connections associating your life with the movie, then you may want to think it’s an NLP movie; I’m sure there’s no harm in that.
And with no offense to Star Trekkies, I think the last frontier is in here, not out there.
Live long and prosper.
